The Greek definitions of the words trumpet and earthquake are very similar. They have great symbolic and physical significance for the prediction of events for the latter days. Three times in the book of Revelations 6:12, 11:13, and 16:18, it speaks of a great earthquake.
Matthew, Mark and Luke warn of earthquakes in the last days in divers (various) places. The Greek meaning of the word GREAT comes from the word “MEGAS” meaning exceedingly. The scripture is saying there will be more and bigger earthquakes as the time draws near the end.
ANNIVERSARY OF THE HAITI EARTHQUAKE
It has been 12 years since the devastating earthquake changed the way of life for so many. So many have had to live in the tent city created from the massive loss of homes. So many orphans and so many homeless.
We are used to being warned before the coming of a storm and told to prepare and take shelter. How do we prepare for an earthquake? The only way is to be spiritually prepared. The Lord knows every tomorrow and is always prepared. If we lean on Him to supply our every need, He will never fail us. He is always looking into our hearts for faith and trust.
Hebrews 12:26-27 says “Then at Mt. Sinai His voice shook the earth: but now He has given a promise, Yet once more I will shake and tremble not only the earth but also the starry heavens. Now this expression, once more, indicates the final removal and transformation of all that can be shaken, that what cannot be shaken may remain and continue.
Many earthquakes are caused by volcanic activity in the earth or the oceans. However, some are caused by the shifting of rock underground. This break in the rock strata or the line of fracture is called a fault.
Though Kentucky is not known for earthquake activity, there is the New Madrid Fault line located on the southwestern state line. There is much earthquake activity around this area though small.
I have lived through only 3 small earthquakes that I know of. The last one woke me up and sounded like a helicopter landed on the roof. The whole house shook very loudly. When the Lord rises mightily to shake the earth – all will shake, how much more on a fault line?
Isaiah 2:19 There is also the spiritual shaking that comes in our life with the trial of our faith. We all tend to be negative and complain about the trouble. The best way for the trial to end is to be thankful. He knows what we need. The shaking is to remove the part of our temperament that stops us from being strong. He knows our future and what is coming. He will prepare us if we cooperate and allow Him to do the work in our heart that we need. It is all about trust and faith. He loves us more than we can comprehend. Now is the time to prepare for the GREAT EARTHQUAKE that is coming.

THE MEANING OF TRUMPET IN THE GREEK IS REVERBERATION, TO ROCK, VIBRATE. EARTHQUAKE AND TRUMPET COME FROM THE SAME ROOT WORD. WHEN WE HEAR THE TRUMPET IT IS A WARNING OF THE SHAKING TO COME.
